PURPOSE: Educate on environmental impacts of human activities, including our own; promote a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and choices; establish a Green Sanctuary Program at First Unitarian Congregation; lobby governments on environmental issues.
ACTIVITIES: Provide fact sheets etc. on environmental issues; collect petitions and letters to government; contribute to Sunday services and Religious Exploration; sell organic items (including coffee & chocolate); maintain the Green Board" in Fellowship Hall; lobby for a City of Ottawa pesticide bylaw.
OPPORTUNITIES: Staff table in Fellowship Hall on Sunday; attend and report on local environmental events; participate in riverbank naturalist hikes and cleanups; provide information (research issues); design Green Board displays.
MEETINGS: Monthly, third Wednesday evening.
