Poverty Awareness Working Group CONTACT: Ann Braden, 728-2147, ann.braden@sympatico.ca Ria Heynen, 828-8468, m.heynen@eyecan.ca PURPOSE: To create awareness in the Congregation and to take action on poverty and affordable housing issues. ACTIVITIES: The group is involved in specific actions related to their purpose, including liaison with the Multifaith Housing Initiative and the Parkdale Food Centre. We are also working on a possible opportunity to provide affordable housing on our property (for older women with mental illness). OPPORTUNITIES: We are always looking for volunteers to help with specific actions. Help is needed writing reports or presentations on housing & poverty issues. MEETINGS: bi-monthly.
