Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office Working Group CONTACT: Katrin Nagelschmitz PURPOSE/ACTIVITIES: Assist our congregation to learn about and participate in major United Nations issues such as: human rights, peace, equity, and the environment. We interact with the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office (UUUNO) in New York; participate in the UNO’s annual international intergenerational seminar, financially assisting youth attendees; encourage UN curriculum content in our RE program; support UN Sunday services and denominational action programs; and undertake fundraising for international development projects. OPPORTUNITIES: (duration ranging from one hour to a weekend) Selling UNICEF [UNICEF Canada site]cards and flower bulbs, attending forums and the UUUNO seminar, writing articles for The Ottawa Unitarian, serving on the committee, and studying current issues. MEETINGS: Monthly, first Sunday.
